The article focuses on the main tendencies in English language performance, extralinguistic factors which influence the inner language processes, some innovations in grammar, vocabulary and stylistics. The author comes to the conclusion that forecasts on the use of English as a lingua franca are problematic due to other languages speakers outnumbering.
