The article examines main contemporary theoretical models of creating a teaching process, whose goal is to form professionally-oriented competences - cognitivism, constructivism, connectionism, connectivity; it shows their applicability in the methodologies of teaching foreign languages, depending on the professional competences that are to be formed.
