The problem of teaching foreign languages as the tools for business communication nowadays has special place in terms of the modern education. It is closely connected with the fact, that the foreign language is becoming a leading discipline nowadays, together with the special subjects. It is explained by the fact, that the value of professionals on the labor market, in terms of the developing international contacts, is determined by the level of their language skills.

Recent research of this decade shows us the topical importance of the social – cultural approach. This is closely connected with progressive development of different international contacts and bonds in various spheres of social life such as politics, economy, culture etc.

Socio – cultural competence is the result of references to the socio – cultural approach. The works of A.N. Shukina, E.N. Solovova, E.I. Passova are devoted to this process. Studying a foreign language becomes a creative process of understanding the mother country of this language. It also helps to understand the mentality of people, their culture, history, art. It also provides us with the necessary knowledge, skills and attainments that help us to become dedicated professionals.

Proper names are one of the tools that form socio – cultural competence. Most of them serve to denote different object in the language, including the business one. However, many do not pay enough attention to the translation of the proper names.

That is why this research is devoted to the methods of translation of proper names. The topicality of this issue consists in the possibility to use that knowledge in practice and in the teaching process, both in linguistic and non-linguistic universities.
