_{The article deals with the issue of teaching German to students who have previously studied English. The issues of intercultural communication are addressed as an aid to students in understanding the subtleties of the language, in making their differences. Intercultural competence has a sociopolitical and sociopsychological dimension as it is about the perception and evaluation of other cultures. Intercultural competence is considered as the ability for appropriate communicative actions in other cultural circles: from the point of view of receptive abilities, so that the behavior of people from other cultures can be interpreted appropriately; and from the point of view of productive abilities, so that it is possible to act linguistically appropriately by ourselves. The principle of teaching a third language also includes knowledge of the similarities and differences between cultures and cultural characteristics of the foreign languages taught. The features from the point of view of the linguistic position of German after English, cultural differences in German-English comparisons are shown to show areas in which the process of understanding similarities and differences can be useful. A brief comparison of speech statements in German and English is given.}
