The purpose of the work is to analyze the use of one of the most productive suffix models in modern English. Under study are the characteristic features of the word-formation model using the suffix -ize/-ise in the English language as a whole and the features of this word-formation modeling both in formal-content and structural-functional terms, in particular.

The paper suggests further studies of the vocabulary formed on the basis of the above word-formation model in comparative historical terms, its specificity and interaction with other language systems in chronological terms, cultural and other specific features of its use in the modern discourse. In doing so it also takes into account the social and professionally oriented differentiation of the English language at the present stage of its development, which is relevant and has a practical application.

Used in the study are the following methods: component and contextual analysis, etymological and comparative historical. All the above research methods made it possible to analyze the specified word-formation mechanism and the results of its producing reshaped words in the vocabulary of modern English.

In the course of the work, a steady trend in the vocabulary of the English language was marked, aimed to enrich it with new formations based on the word-formation model -ize/-ise, which have found a wide application in the modern discourse of the English language. Chronologically, the evolution of the formation of the suffix model under study is further footmarked, which is used in the word-formation mechanism in order to replenish the vocabulary of the English language. This results in a differentiation of the corpus vocabulary depending on the use of reformed words with the suffix -ize/-ise in the socially conditioned and professionally significant discourse of the modern English language, with the cultural factor taken into account.

As a result of the work done, the valuable practical material has been analyzed, which can be used for educational purposes, as well as for further research of the word-formation model using the suffix -ize /-ise in modern English.
