The article deals with the Preface to one of the early monographs written by Ch. R. Darwin as the example of standard (genre dependent) and personalized communicative oriented style and structure of the text correlation. The main ways to define this correlation can be regarded the use of personal pronoun «I», modal verbs and variations of sentence structure.
